If the trainer is trialling two or three dogs together then there is no increase for additional dogs. Dogs trialled separately are subject to the $1 increase.</div> <div>  </div> <div> There will be a <B>$2 increase per trial for non-members.</B> If the trainer is trialling two or three dogs in the same trial there is no increase for the additional dogs. Dogs trialled separately are subject to the $2 increase.</div> <bR> <div> <B>The way to avoid price increases is to become a Capalaba member.</B> There is an application in the race book and membership is cost effective as it provides for free entry on race days a race book and cost of trials will remain the same.</div> <bR> <div> There will be <B>no prize money for fourth place as from 4th July. </B>Currently dogs place 4th receive $20.</div> <bR> <div> Fourth prize money was introduced a few years ago paid for by the TAB turnover commission which was running at between $2,500 to $2,700 per week. Average TAB turnover on a Saturday has dropped to approximately $1200 per Saturday. Therefore it is no possible for the club to continue to pay 4th prize money. </div> <bR> <div> The committee considered an increase in bar prices but this was rejected. The only increases will be the CPI imposed by the government which occurs every 6 months.</div> </tD> </tR> <tR> <tD VALIGN=TOP BGCOLOR=#003366 HEIGHT= 16 WIDTH="781"><div> <B>MACLEAN BOY LANDS YOUNG GUNS 06.06.09</B></div> </tD> </tR> <tR> <tD VALIGN=TOP BGCOLOR=#FFFFFF HEIGHT= 322 WIDTH="781"><div> MACLEAN Boy could be set for the up-coming Grafton Sprinters Cup.</div> <div> Part-owner and trainer Bill Warner said this today after the Black Enforcer-Black Eye Dooley dog had led virtually throughout to win the Capalaba Young Guns final.</div> <div> He ran 20.20 on a slow track to score by three-quarters of a length over Hugo Fast with a neck to Wear It All in third.</div> <div> It was his sixth win in 13 starts and his fourth in seven runs up Capalaba.</div> <div> He had already been a Capalaba Derby finalist.</div> <div> "The one-turn track at Grafton will really suit him and we'll look at taking him to the Sprinters Cup during the July carnival," said Bill Warner.</div> <div> Bill gave all the credit for the victory to his wife Jan.</div> <div> Warner is a computer genius for Telstra and is required in Melbourne every second week.</div> <div> "Jan steps up all the time to work with the dogs," he said.</div> <div> "She did point out he ran 19.70 under her training last week in his heat win and 20.20 today in the final when I've been putting the polish on him all week."</div> <div> Maclean Boy was bought as a pup from breeder Barry Dull.</div> <div> He is a son of Dull's former Bundaberg Cup winner Black Eye Dooley.</div> <div> The winner started 5-2 favourite after drifting from his opening quote of 2-1.</div> <div> "We bet away," said Warner.</div> <div> Club president Alec Stevens handled the trophy presentation with his usual aplomb. THAT WAS A RUN 01.06.09</B></div> </tD> </tR> <tR> <tD VALIGN=TOP BGCOLOR=#FFFFFF HEIGHT= 371 WIDTH="781"><div> ASTUTE trainer Peter Wilson believes Karmazz will be the big improver for the Capalaba Young Guns final next Saturday.</div> <div> Karmazz (Hallucinate-Go Stanley) had not raced since April 7 when injured at Albion Park before running 20.13 in his Young Guns heat win last Saturday.</div> <div> "He sprained a hock when he got chopped out as he was looming up to win at Albion Park," Wilson's kennel media manager Elaine Klaassen said today.</div> <div> Karmazz has won five of nine starts.</div> <div> "He's only been back in work for three weeks and we've had to keep him just to straight work," said Elaine.</div> <div> "There will be a lot of improvement in him for the final."</div> <div> There will have to be because Capalaba specialist Maclean Boy, from the in-form Bill Warner kennel, ran a scorching 19.70 in his heat win.</div> <div> "There was a significant difference in the head wind factor between the two heats on Saturday," said Klaassen. "Our dog was running into a hurricane. Maclean Boy's head wind wasn't as strong as a breath."</div> <div> Klaassen believes Karmazz could be the undoing of quite a few in the final.</div> <div> "He's got the two in the final and we would have rathered wider," she said. The council will be meeting with representatives of Water Resources to press for a better management of water release into the creek during heavy rain. Currently this is managed centrally and the timing has been poor as it often coincides with incoming and high tides. I have informed the council that if there is no progress within the next fortnight I will be using my political contacts built up over 30 years in the Australian Electoral Commission to bring the matter to a head. </div> <bR> <div> Another issue discussed at the meeting with council was their intention to proceed as soon as possible with a fence between the road to the boxes and the football field. "If it had hit the tower we wouldn't have raced for a month."</div> <div> Patching said Redland Council called in a backhoe to remove the tree and had to pull down a section of the catching pen fence that was not damaged just to be able to get at the tree.</div> <div> "When I arrived at the track at 7.30 this monring, I had to wade through waist deep water to get to the office," said Bob.</div> <div> The club has already called off all trials this week.</div> <div> "We need as many people to the working bee as possible," said Patching. Personally, I also hope we can schedule a Racecallers’ Day at least once per year from here on in, as I believe it created a great spectacle and something that little bit different on the day.</div> <bR> <div> I feel that without the generous support of each of the sponsors the day wouldn’t have turned out as successful as it was, and judging by the feedback of both guests and other industry participants, I feel we can safely say we achieved the desired result. To have attracted fields for a 10 event program (first time at Capalaba in quite a while) was wonderful, and a truly fitting way to recognize Bernie’s contribution to the Club over the past 11 years.
